Get to know Amanda Cheng better
1. Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in this career?
A: I was on my semester break and then my mum asked me:
"Ah girl! Since you so free why don't you go try something new?" And then I joined a modelling competition and found out modeling is more than what it is. Hence, I'd love to discover more and then seem to not stop at all ha-ha.
2. Have you attended fashion modeling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
A: I've attended Amber Chia Academy. Just to learn catwalk and camera what to or not to do.
3. Why would you think you’re fit to be a model?
A: ha-ha I never thought I'd fit in at all, I'm not tall, I don't have a unique face, I'm not skinny, I'm just an average girl with big personality I guess? You be the judge.
4. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progress in this field?
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?
A: I think whatever or whoever you want to be, you only want to be happy. Becausehappy gets you to your goals. Well, I'd love to travel the world, let's see if modelling can be a part of it.
5. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
A: Being a model is more than it seems. Said ONE wrong thing you're out. You need to be genuine. I'm friendly but I can also be blunt. I'm open to requirements except for sex.
6. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
A: I go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week. I used to count calories and restrict from eating a lot. Then when I started exercising, it was like "I exercise so I can eat whatever I want" but after 8 months of exercising, it has now become "I eat well and enough so I can exercise well". Funny how fitness can play with your mind sometimes Huh?
7. What do you hope to accomplish at our modeling agency?
A: I am not in any modeling agency.
8. Do you have any limitations? Would you model any kind of clothing at all?
A:hahaha I have no limitation, but if the picture turns out bad I'd probably just.. Not like it..
9. Do you experience facing issues at a modelling show?
A: Not really. You're normally safe if you're not late. If you're late, you're dead. Most probably cut the pay and getting stares because everybody waited for you and time is money.
10. Mind to share more about your work experience in this field?
A: I had a call time at 4 am and ended at 10 pm. But you still have kept a smile the whole time. You can NOT be late. You have to remember to keep your body in proper shape and groom it right. Just be yourself. That's important. Don't lose yourself.
From what Amanda's share with us, being a model is not as easy as we seen on TV, photos, posters, and etc. They need to maintain their body, take care of their nutrition, take care with words they use, how to pose in front of the camera, and time management. Not only all this, you have to be passion with what you are doing.
Personally, I am one of her fans and her admirer too; I admire her bold style, pose with confidence, know her future path with positive mindset. Besides, looking at how she enjoy while working, reminds me what people usually say "Love your job and you will enjoy what you are doing".
